The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has issued a warning to Nigerians living in Lebanon, advising them to consider departing the country while commercial flights are still operational.
This guidance comes in light of escalating violence, particularly the recent attacks by the Israeli government on Hezbollah and other areas, raising concerns for the safety of foreign nationals.
In a statement released by the Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit at NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, it was noted that while most Nigerians have relocated from the southern part of Lebanon and are currently safe, the commission encourages all citizens to prioritize their safety until a ceasefire is established.
NIDCOM also urged Nigerians in Lebanon to maintain communication with the Nigerian Embassy for safety guidance.
The conflict has intensified, with over 1,000 casualties reported since the recent escalation, prompting heightened concerns over security in the region.
