In a grand ceremony held on Monday, Wellsradio 89.3FM, a new entrant to the terrestrial broadcasting terrain marked its official launch, promising a commitment to wholesome content and a unique approach to radio programming.

The event, held at the Wells Broadcasting House along Alaafin Avenue, Oluyole Estate Extension, Ibadan, was graced by distinguished guests, including the Founder and CEO, Evang. (Mrs.) Lillian Bademosi, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Oyo State, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi FarounbiPopular Nollywood actor Oloye Akin Lewis amongst others.

Evang. Lillian Bademosi opened the ceremony with a heartfelt welcome, expressing gratitude to all attendees. Reflecting on her journey as a veteran broadcaster, she shared the vision behind Wellsradio 89.3FM, emphasizing the station’s commitment to wholesome content. Evang. Lillian highlighted the significance of the date, January 1, 2024, as a milestone in the realization of a dream that began in 2005.

Honourable Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Oyo State,Prince Dotun Oyelade took the podium to acknowledge the exponential growth of the broadcast radio industry in Nigeria. He attributed the surge in radio stations, especially in Oyo State, to the investment-friendly policies of the Seyi Makinde administration. Prince Dotun Oyelade underscored the advantages of this growth, including increased competition, job creation, and alternative information sources for citizens.

Dr. Yemi Farounbi, a former Ambassador to the Philippines and a veteran broadcaster, provided valuable insights into the broadcast industry’s dynamics. Recognizing the synergy between diplomacy and media, Dr. Farounbi commended the Seyi Makinde administration for empowering voices and fostering healthy competition.

After the official commissioning/cutting of tape by Dr Farounbi, Evangelist Lillian Bademosi officially launched the station’s maiden broadcast, welcoming listeners to Wellsradio 89.3FM. Positioned as “your preferred wholesome radio ” she expressed the station’s determination not only to make a difference but also to be the face of broadcasting in Oyo State.

This was followed by the inaugural news broadcast which was professionally read by the CEO of Wellsradio, who is a veteran broadcaster herself .

Wellsradio 89.3FM has now entered the competitive broadcasting arena with a promise to uphold values of ethics, professionalism, excellence, integrity, and morality.
