Immigration Launches Online Passport Application Portal Today

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will on Monday (today) inaugurate the first online passport application portal in Abuja. He revealed this during a demonstration session of the online portal on Friday, alongside the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Caroline Adepoju.

The online passport application platform caters to both international and Nigerian applicants. In December, the minister announced the Federal Government’s efforts toward a fully automated passport application system, noting it was “99 per cent done.” The process includes uploading passport photos and supporting documents.

Nigerian applicants opting for a 32-page passport with a five-year validity will pay N25,000, while those seeking a 64-page passport with a 10-year validity will pay N70,000. Foreign applicants, desiring passports with a five-year validity and 32 pages, will pay $130, and those preferring a 10-year validity with 64 pages will pay $230. Applications can be submitted at https://passport.immigration.gov.ng.

Dignitaries at the event included Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission; Stephen Matete, representative of the International Organisation for Migration; Joe Abah, Country Manager of Development Alternatives Incorporated; Tijjani Musa, Founder of Kwandala Foundation; and David Afolayan, Co-founder of Technext.
