The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin after three years of controversy and litigation.
The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who disclosed the information, said that Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, after thorough consultations and divinations, has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the Governor of Oyo State.
Oyelade noted that a press release has been issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, who revealed that the announcement has put to rest the socio-legal disputes since the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on April 22, 2022.
Hon. Ojo urged citizens of Oyo State to join the Government in celebrating the historic occasion and support the new Alaafin of Oyo.
The Commissioner prayed that his reign will bring peace, prosperity and unity to the famous Oyo Kingdom.
