Police Disperse Pro-Natasha Protesters with Tear Gas at National Assembly

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have used tear gas to disperse supporters of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had gathered at the National Assembly Complex.

The officers reportedly took action to prevent any disruption to public order.

The protesters had arrived as early as 8 a.m. ahead of a Senate plenary and a hearing by the Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petition Committee.

Following the dispersal, the demonstrators relocated to the Unity Fountain to continue their protest.

The incident comes after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements in the Senate on February 20, which led to her referral to the ethics committee.

She later accused Senator Akpabio of sexual harassment and claimed he was tarnishing her reputation after she rejected his alleged advances.
