The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has vowed strict action against producers of adulterated beverages following the arrest of a 52-year-old man, Anthony Chidi, at Mile 3 Market in Port Harcourt.
According to the agency’s South-South Public Relations Officer, Cyril Monye, Chidi was caught washing used bottles of various alcoholic brands inside an unhygienic shop, where he allegedly produced and sold unwholesome drinks to unsuspecting consumers.
NAFDAC South-South Director, Chukwuma Oligbu, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to cracking down on such illegal activities, warning perpetrators to desist or face imprisonment.
NAFDAC has since sealed the shop, confiscated all materials, and will hand over the suspect to its Enforcement and Investigation Directorate for further action.
