Tinubu Inaugurates Youth Confab, Says Nigerian Professionals Will Return as Economy Improves

President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence that his administration’s economic policies will encourage Nigerian professionals who have left the country in search of better opportunities to return.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Implementation Committee for the National Youth Conference in Abuja, he explained that as economic conditions improve, the trend of emigration, popularly known as “japa,” would be reversed.

President Tinubu emphasized that government policies are aimed at improving prosperity, encouraging young Nigerians to voice their concerns openly, and promising that constructive suggestions would be considered for national development.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the administration’s commitment to youth engagement through initiatives like the student loan scheme and infrastructural projects.

Committee member Samson Itodo noted key focus areas for the youth conference, including political governance, economic transformation, artificial intelligence, climate change, energy transition, and security.

The implementation process will involve virtual consultations, regional town halls, and a final congress in Abuja, with the committee chaired by Permanent Secretary Olubunmi Olusanya.
