Veteran broadcaster and CEO of Wellsradio 89.3fm Ibadan, Evangelist Lillian Bademosi, has shared heartfelt memories of the late Ondo State governor, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. In an exclusive interview with Wellsradio 89.3fm, she described Akeredolu as a kind-hearted, easy-going, and simple man, highlighting their shared service on the board of governors of Juniors and Christ Ambassadors International Group of Schools, Ibadan.
“We both also served on the board of governors of an international school here. And he was also a family friend. He was actually a very close friend to my late husband. It was quite devastating. He was close to our family. He was very kind hearted, you could talk to him and he would listen. Very easy going, very simple. He didn’t have airs around him, very approachable. And he always had a listening ear. So he will be greatly missed, no doubt about that” she said.
Expressing her shock and dismay at the governor’s passing, Evang. Bademosi emphasized the impact on Akeredolu’s immediate family.
“No matter how close the rest of us were to him, I always say to people that when anybody passes, the hardest hit are usually the immediate family. The immediate family most of the time, being the wife, children, and followed by siblings, friends and colleagues.
“As a Christian, I want to believe that when the time comes for anybody to go back to his/her maker, there’s nothing you can do about it,” she remarked, finding solace in the belief that the late governor’s transition is “Heaven’s gain.”
Evang. Bademosi urged citizens and leaders in Ondo State to reflect and unite for the state’s benefit. She acknowledged the recent political crisis and called for unity among parties, emphasizing that governance continues even in the absence of Governor Akeredolu. As Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa takes on the role, she prayed for grace in reaching out to all parties, fostering collaboration, and continuing the late governor’s legacy.
