Zelensky Proposes Land Swaps as Russia Strengthens U.S. Ties With Prisoner Release

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that he is willing to negotiate a land exchange with Russia, a move that led to the release of at least one American prisoner, an act U.S. President Donald Trump described as a goodwill gesture toward ending the war.

It would be recalled that Zelensky had previously refused to cede any territory after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

During an interview with journalists, the Ukrainian President said that Kyiv is ready for serious talks ahead of tomorrow’s meeting at the Munich Security Conference with U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

Zelensky acknowledged that Ukraine would not be able to secure security guarantees from its European partners.

Recall that Trump took office vowing to end the war in Ukraine by leveraging billions of dollars in U.S. assistance sent under former President Joe Biden to force Kyiv into territorial concessions.
